The 3rd and 18th hole has becomes a topic among people

TANGERANG, This golf course has a flat character and surrounded by water. This is what gives the Kedaton Golf & Country Club (KGCC) golf course a cool ambience, as said by KGCC’s General Manager Oong S. Wiradinata about the mentioned golf course in Desa Sukaharja, Pasar Kemis-Tangerang.

The distance between Jakarta and KGCC is quite lengthy. You can direct your vehicle toward Cikupa, Pasar Kemis, after leaving the Kebon Jeruk freeway. From the Cikupa/Pasar Kemis toll gate, you can head down to the Kedaton estate which is only about 500 meters, while to the golf course venue you have to go through the extra 1.5 kilometers.

Your first impression might be: empty. There are still a lot of empty real estate lots, and even several abandoned luxurious houses. But as you arrive at KGCC, you can feel the natural cool ambience immediately.

KGCC has been operating since January 1995. This golf course was designed by the US designer Rick Robbins, and this course has witnessed several grand events in Indonesia, such as the PON XIV back in 1996, and the Indonesian Men Amateur in 2004.

This 18 holes golf course lies on an 80 hectare area in the Tangerang estate. People said that there is a natural concept embedded in this golf course, as you can see in the structure of the classic West Java concept at the club house with the capacity of 175 people, which adopts many wooden and bamboo exterior and interior in it.

Around Banten area, this course has many visitors. As said by Oong, “Each month there is an average of 2.600 golfers on the field, with 350 people as an active member.” The 3rd and 18th hole on the 4th par has become a talk among people because of its narrowing fairway. Other than these two holes, the KGCC golf course is not that tough to handle. For golfers with average handicaps, the approach to second strike can be achieved by using iron no. 5 or 7. This is applicable to conquer most of the holes there.

According to Oong, on the last Men’s Amateur tournament, there was no need to apply significant changes. He said that “The average of green speed was 9 feet.” Oong is deeply enthusiastic about the various golf tournaments held in KGCC, especially among amateurs, because these tournaments can motivate and improve the Indonesian amateur golfers’ achievement to join and take part in the international tournaments.
