So many things to see, so little time. That’s what people always said about Indonesia. If we start from the capital city Jakarta, there’s so many things to see already, it will make you ran out of gas in no time.
So here are some pointers about what to visit in Jakarta. Besides the beaches (which are always fun to visit) in Ancol and Anyer, you can always go to TMII (for a quick glance of Indonesian diverse culture), Monas (a brief history of Indonesia’s independence, the flame was made out of real gold!), or various museums in Jakarta.
If you brought your family with you, congrats! There’s a lot of place to visit and highly entertaining for your children, like Dunia Fantasi and Sea World Ancol, The Ragunan Zoo, and Taman Safari (a little off Jakarta’s territory but still accessible).
Tired of the city’s bright light? Why don’t take a ride uphill to Puncak, which offers various resorts and villas to rent, fresh air, and nice food alongside of it. However if you still want to stay inside town, there are five stars and comfy hotels where you can crash in, among them are The Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, The Sultan, and Aryaduta (located in various points of Jakarta).
Want to have something nice to eat? Try The Cafe at Hotel Mulia, The Piano Bistro at Wijaya, or Olivo at Karet.
Should you decide to go to Bandung instead, here are some pointers about what to see or to visit in Bandung. So far Bandung got Sheraton and Towers as the primary five star hotel (you will love it there... don’t forget to stop by at the Deli and buy those terrific cakes), Hyatt Regency and Grand Preanger (also good choices, the location is a bit to the Middletown while Sheraton is located rather uphill). Food? You will find tons and tons of culinary experience all over Bandung, all with affordable prices and nice taste! Among the restaurants are The Valley (nice view, terrific food, romantic ambience), Kampung Daun (uniquely set in the middle of a natural terrain), and Sapu Lidi Makan Tengah Sawah (also uniquely set in the middle of a rice paddy).
Shopping is the main attraction in Bandung, so don’t forget to check out the factory outlets like Rumah Mode (Setiabudi), The Heritage (LLRE Martadinata), ABS Shoe Warehouse (located right to the left as you exit the freeway on Pasteur), The Secret (LLRE Martadinata), and also Cihampelas, where you’ll find endless streams of jeans stores. Should you ever get tired and wanting to have total relaxation, just go to Ciater Hot Spring Resort for a good therapy for those old bones.... Isn’t life wonderful? So, what are you waiting for?
